Pyongyang: North Korea has accused the United States and its allies of escalating military tensions, stating that "provocations" have increased under the Trump administration.
In a statement released on Saturday, an unnamed official from North Korea’s defense ministry claimed that Washington and its "vassal forces" were endangering the country’s security through ongoing joint military exercises and a strong U.S. military presence in South Korea.
The official warned that Pyongyang would respond with its own strategic measures to counter perceived threats. "We will respond to the enemies' strategic threat with our strategic means," the statement read, reaffirming North Korea’s commitment to maintaining military readiness.
This comes after South Korea’s defense ministry confirmed that a joint air exercise involving the U.S. military took place on Thursday, featuring at least one B-1B strategic bomber.
North Korea has consistently denounced such drills as preparations for an attack, while South Korea maintains that the exercises are defensive in nature.
